Introducing Sandra Colas - a real estate extraordinaire

Category Live in Mauritius

Sandra Colas brings more than 20 years of real estate experience to the table as well as a passion for architecture and urban planning. Her impressive career has seen her selling real estate in Paris, the USA, the Seychelles and now Mauritius. A native Parisian, Sandra initially moved to the Seychelles to be closer to the projects that she was working on, and has liaised with clients of over 40 nationalities. After this first taste of island life, Sandra relocated to Mauritius in 2018 with her husband and two children to enjoy all the lifestyle benefits that this Indian Ocean island has to offer.

Sandra's approach to real estate

For Sandra, real estate is not just about selling properties. "It's about being part of a project," she explains, "and understanding every aspect of what my clients need in order to find them the ideal property. My clients' best interests are always close to my heart."

As part of the PropertyTime Mauritius team, Sandra works with the most renowned property developers in Mauritius. She makes a point of building in-depth knowledge about every development and passing this information on to her clients.

Another aspect of relocating to Mauritius that Sandra assists her clients with is getting permanent residency status and work permits through property purchases. "If you are my client, I'm on your side through every step of the process of relocating to Mauritius," she comments. "From helping you find the right property and assisting with home loan applications to helping you and your family get your residency permits, I offer it all."

Being an expatriate herself, Sandra understands what is involved in moving internationally and adapting to island life. "I do my best to consider my clients' needs, and ask relevant questions like whether or not they have visited Mauritius before and whether they have the right to live and work on the island."

Everything Mauritius has to offer

Mauritius is one of the most popular destinations in the Indian Ocean region - and for good reason. In Sandra's words, it is a place where you can play and work. "The island lifestyle is one in which I can spend quality time with my children and go for regular walks on the beach." In addition, the stress levels are much lower than those experienced in other parts of the world. "What's not to love?" asks Sandra.

Areas of specialisation

Sandra specialises in selling residential properties and units in developments - both new units directly from the developer and resold units. "The range of properties I sell includes sea-facing units, holiday homes, investment properties and more," Sandra explains. "PropertyTime Mauritius is currently expanding from the north of Mauritius to the West Coast. A couple of the most popular areas of the island for South Africans are Grand Baie in the north and Tamarin in the west. These areas make great investments, as they are popular holiday destinations for many overseas travellers."

Sandra's advice for those considering investing in Mauritius

Sandra emphasises the importance of knowing the track record of the developer if you are considering buying property in a development. "This is the advantage of working with an agency like PropertyTime Mauritius," she shares. "We work closely with developers and we always have an insider's perspective. We know the specifics of every property, from the warranties on offer to any defects that would-be buyers should be aware of."

In general terms, Sandra's advice for anyone considering buying property in Mauritius is to go for it. "The island is an excellent place to buy property," she explains. "From a financial perspective, taxation is low and the economy is stable." Sandra also points out that Mauritius offers a wonderful family-orientated lifestyle with excellent schools and medical facilities.
